About Helnium

Helnium is the work of Hélène Lambert, a chemist and pianist specializing in coordination chemistry and crystallography at the University of Geneva.

A pioneer of what she calls Scientific Design, her work explores the idea that our perception of beauty may not be entirely subjective. Symmetry, proportion, order, rhythm and harmony appear across chemistry, physics, music and art, suggesting that some of what we intuitively perceive as beautiful may be rooted in physical laws, mathematical relationships and the way our brain processes structure. Through Helnium, she brings together chemistry, physics, neuroscience and art, collaborating across disciplines to investigate why certain forms, patterns and harmonies resonate so strongly with us and how the hidden structures of matter can become a new language for design.
