Hélène Lambert
Hélène Lambert is a Swiss scientific designer, chemist and pianist based in Geneva. She is currently studying Chemistry at the University of Geneva, specializing in coordination chemistry and crystallography. Her work combines laboratory experimentation with polarized light and fluorescence microscopy to reveal the hidden architecture of matter at the microscopic scale. By transforming molecular structures into visual compositions, she creates works that bridge science, art and design. Her research explores how molecular self-organization naturally generates patterns, structures and colours, revealing a visual language shaped by the fundamental laws of chemistry. Through her work, she aims to make the invisible tangible, bringing the beauty of the molecular world beyond the laboratory and into everyday life.

Carrière et recherches
Since 2024, Hélène Lambert has been developing Helnium alongside her Chemistry studies at the University of Geneva. She investigates how molecular organization gives rise to form, colour and visual complexity. Her research combines coordination chemistry, crystallography and advanced microscopy to study pattern formation in non-equilibrium systems. Rather than engineering new materials, she seeks to reveal the intrinsic architectures generated by matter itself. Her work extends to neuroaesthetics, where she investigates whether recurring geometries found across chemistry, biology and physics contribute to the human perception of beauty. By integrating physicochemical analysis with visual perception, her research aims to establish a scientific foundation for a new design methodology directly inspired by the organization of matter.

The Element 0 is the conceptual foundation and logo of Helnium.
It represents the invisible organization that precedes every form found in nature. Before matter becomes a crystal, a colour or a structure, it follows fundamental physicochemical laws that shape its architecture. The Helnium symbol, Ln⁰, embodies this search for the origin of visual complexity that we perceive as “harmony”. It reflects the idea that the most extraordinary designs are not invented-they already exist within matter, waiting to be revealed.
Influence & Vision
Hélène Lambert's work has attracted growing attention in Switzerland at the intersection of chemistry, design and scientific communication. Her research and visual work have been featured by Swiss National Television (RTS), including the science program CQFD, as well as Léman Bleu, 20 Minutes, and Nature, where one of her images was selected as Image of the Month.
