β-Carotene (C₄₀H₅₆) is an organic pigment belonging to the carotenoid family. Its extended π-conjugated systemabsorbs blue-violet light (approximately 450-480 nm), giving the molecule its characteristic orange colour. This artwork was born from a familiar, almost ordinary molecule: β-carotene, the natural pigment responsible for the orange colours found throughout the living world.
