The Inner Summit is created directly from genuine crystals of potassium alum, KAl(SO₄)₂·12H₂O, grown through controlled crystallization and observed under polarized light microscopy. Potassium alum is a hydrated double sulfate composed of potassium, aluminium and sulfate ions. It crystallizes in the cubic crystal system, known for its high degree of symmetry and structural order. During crystal growth, ions spontaneously assemble into complex mineral architectures. Under the microscope, these structures reveal sharp ridges, luminous surfaces and crystalline peaks that naturally evoke an Alpine landscape. Nothing in the image was drawn to resemble a mountain. The landscape emerged from the organization of matter itself.
